International Mathematical Contest (IMC) Information

San Francisco, USA – The International Mathematical Contest (IMC) is a competition organized by mathematics and science professors and teachers from various countries. It originated in the India, where local mathematics teachers collaborated to create a paper-based contest. Later, this was merged with local contests from different countries, resulting in the IMC, which further evolved into the International Mathematical Contest (IMC)-International Mathematics Prodigy Education Association (IMPEA), established in San Francisco.

PIC1. IMC Team Round Test.

Shubhrangshu Dasgupta, a renowned physics professor from the prestigious IIT (Indian Institute of Technology), serves as the Head Director. Mathematicians from countries like the USA, Canada, India, Venezuela, and Pakistan contribute to the development of the exam questions.

To ensure questions are of high quality, several mathematics and science teachers and professors from different countries carefully select the best questions for the exam. These high-quality questions can significantly enhance students’ mathematical abilities.

PIC2. IMC Individual Test.

The IMC consists of three components: Math Modeling, Team Round, and Individual Test. On September 21st, the Individual Test will be conducted. Students who perform exceptionally well receive awards: Gold Award for the top 1%, Silver Award for the top 2%, Bronze Award for the top 3%, and Honorable Mention for the top 10%.

All tests can be taken via tablets, or computers. There will be strict supervision using AI monitoring and a live proctor in Zoom. If the exam is conducted at schools, it can be a paper-based test, with school teachers serving as supervisors.


Registration for the September 21st, 2023 exam is open from July 29th to September 15th. To register, participants need to sign up on the website (www.imc-impea.org) Students can choose their appropriate level: Grade 4 or Grade 6 for elementary students, Grade 8 for middle school students, and Grade 10 or Grade 12 for high school students.
