In a dynamic convergence of space experts and enthusiasts, a pivotal workshop titled “Space Technologies for Social and Economic Benefits” has embarked on its journey in Baku. This transformative event, jointly organized by Azercosmos, the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), and the International Astronautical Federation, marks a significant milestone within the framework of the 74th International Astronautical Congress (IAC).

Addressing the workshop’s esteemed attendees, Aarti Holla-Maini, the Director of UNOOSA, articulated the workshop’s core objective. She emphasized the imperative need to strengthen the ties between education, innovation, and technology while exploring multifaceted partnership opportunities in this realm. “Our mission is to create a comprehensive space partnership framework, uniting the public, private, and non-governmental sectors, with a particular emphasis on the emerging space nations,” she declared.

Aarti Holla-Maini went on to underscore the aspiration of leveraging space endeavors to attain environmental, scientific, and technological advantages that can be shared globally. “Access to the benefits generated by space activities should be accessible to all,” she proclaimed, reaffirming UNOOSA’s steadfast commitment to knowledge sharing and cooperation.

Clay Mowry, the President of the International Astronautical Federation, extended his gratitude to Azerbaijan for its role in hosting the 74th International Astronautical Congress. The concept of sustainability in space activities, he noted, is of paramount importance.
