Jobs in Corona times: Copenhagen to training the unemployed to disinfection forces

The corona crisis has caused many layoffs of workers. Also in Denmark, one has to contend with this Problem. The employment and integration administration in the Danish capital of Copenhagen has, however, come up with something to deal with at least a couple of people. It has set up a course, in the unemployment to the “certified disinfection power” retrain can.

So far, 16 people have completed the course and twelve to get a Job, how the city communicates. The training lasts for three days. The participants will be taught about the spread of infectious diseases, protective equipment, and cleaning of keyboards, handles and kitchen appliances. After the completion of the training, the newly trained disinfection force will receive a certificate that you Know about Covid-19, protection from infection, and cleaning and disinfecting certified.

“Stand in front of great challenges”

The retraining is aimed specifically at citizens who have, in addition to unemployment, other challenges, such as mental health problems or experiences with abuse. “Of course, we need to use in the job centers of the positive opportunities that arise in the course of Corona. We are facing a great challenge with many unemployed, and we must do everything to bring you as quickly as possible back to the labour market. I hope that the businesses recognize the idea, one of the certified disinfection forces, since we will probably need to disinfect in the future,” says Cecilia Lonning-Skovgaard, mayor for employment and Integration, city of Copenhagen.

One of those who have completed the course, Kristensen, Pernille, Mary. She has found a Job as a disinfection power in a canteen of a company. For them, the course was an eye-opener. “I am satisfied with the work. I’m not in a good way tired when I get home, and that’s nice,” she is quoted as saying.

Even before the Corona-pandemic Kristensen’ve been looking for cleaning Jobs, she tells the local TV station TV2 Lorry. “Therefore, it is just great that I had the chance to try this out.” Because your employment ends soon, whether you are already on the search for a new Job.

Job fair for disinfection forces planned

The Director of the jobcenter in Copenhagen, Maria Bødker Boye, told the station that these Jobs were created in the short term, but an important step to gain experience and a network could build on. They also hope that the additional cleanings, which are due to the Coronavirus necessary, be carried out at the employers even more.

There are two other courses and a job fair are being planned, the certified disinfection forces have the opportunity to meet representatives of various companies. Also in other countries had used such retraining. In Sweden, for example, cabin crew of a major Airline was trained to be helpers in the healthcare sector.
