Unveiling the Success of 5th Edition Cybersecurity Innovation Series in Cairo Egypt 2023

Dubai, UAE, The 5th Edition Cyber Security Innovation Series took place on 6-7 March 2023 in Intercontinental Citystars Cairo Egypt. Cyber Security Innovation Series was supported by The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) and Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), organised by MS Events. The summit brought together all stakeholders under one platform to accelerate our innovation journey in a sustainable and safe way, addressed new risks, reframed security practices, and rethought technology, as well as prepared to respond to new threats.

The event began with Samia Moussa, Head of Development Partners Bureau at Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), serving as the Chairperson. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Hafez, Vice President for Cyber Security Affair at EGCERT, National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA). The 2nd day of the event was inaugurated by Eng. Hazem Nabil, Vice President for Electronic Transactions Security at ITIDA.

At CSIS 2023, attendees had the chance to gain insights into the real-time implementation of policies and procedures as per the new Egypt ICT 2030 Strategy. They discussed the measures that organizations needed to adopt to maintain resilience and adjust to the constantly evolving nature of cyber-attacks. Furthermore, they brainstormed the significance of implementing the appropriate security tools throughout the enterprise. 

Mohamed Madkour, Chief Cybersecurity Officer at Huawei Egypt, said: “We are glad to participate in the 2nd edition of CSIS Egypt where we tackled the top trending topics, such as Ransom attacks and defense mechanisms, Cloud security and AI security adoption . In the sessions, we discussed that having an advanced cybersecurity and a comprehensive defense system is a top priority since ransomware attacks doesn’t exclusively target personal data, but rather it affects organizations, ranging from government institutions to corporations, and small businesses. In addition, we also shed light on Cloud security frameworks and its relevant data protection as an important practice of securing data in a cloud environment.”

In addition to that, the summit hosted the Cybersecurity Innovation Series Awards where Eng. Abeer Khedr, Head of Cyber Security, National Bank of Egypt (NBE) won CISO of the year Egypt 2023, Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Hafez, Vice President of Cybersecurity Affairs, NTRA, won Cybersecurity Leader of the Year Egypt 2023 and Huawei won Cyber Awareness Plan of the Year Egypt 2023.
