The Formula One race in Le Castellet, France, has to be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic this year. This was announced by the organisers. The legal regulations in France make it impossible for the event to be held in the south of the country as planned. The Grand Prix was previously scheduled for June 28. Previously, the Monaco Grand Prix had already been cancelled and eight more races had to be postponed.
So it remains that Formula One is planning its start to the season on July 5. Then the Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg is supposed to start. In this case, Formula One is even considering starting twice in Austria.
It is also clear that world champion Lewis Hamilton’s home game at Silverstone, currently scheduled for 19 July, can only take place without spectators. The organisers informed the ticket buyers of the British Grand Prix. “I am extremely disappointed to have to say that it is impossible for us to hold this year’s Grand Prix in front of fans at Silverstone,” wrote track chief Stuart Pringle. This decision had been kept open for as long as possible, but this step must now be taken.
