The Indication of Interest tool lets large traders signal deals privately, cutting risks like slippage in digital assets.
Binance, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, has introduced a new feature to attract more institutional investors. The Indication of Interest, or IOI, helps with large transactions in a discreet way. This launch comes as crypto markets seek to match traditional finance standards.
Executing big orders on public exchanges can lead to problems. When a large buy or sell hits the order book, it often causes price changes known as slippage. This makes trades cost more. Also, it reveals the trader’s plans, allowing others to act against them, which is called information leakage. These issues have slowed institutional entry into crypto.
Binance‘s IOI feature addresses these directly. It allows traders to signal interest without public exposure.
The IOI is non-binding. Users submit details on assets, sizes, and terms to Binance’s OTC desk. The desk looks for matches privately. If found, it contacts the user to confirm and complete the deal. Submissions are by email or direct contact, with API support planned later. There are no fees for IOI submissions. Revenue comes from spreads on executed trades or loans.
This privacy keeps intentions hidden and avoids market moves. Spot trades settle to the user’s account. Loans follow agreed terms.
There are two main types. Spot IOI is for buying or selling crypto at set prices. Loan IOI is for fixed-rate borrowing or lending, allowing term adjustments. These suit non-standard requests, like large blocks or longer loans.
The feature targets verified institutional clients and high-net-worth users. Transactions are typically around $200,000 or more. This fits the needs of big players.
With IOI, users get better liquidity checks without risks. It reduces slippage by keeping orders off public books. It also cuts information leakage, protecting strategies.
For institutions, this means efficient execution. It aligns crypto with traditional markets, where IOIs are common. Binance claims it’s the first crypto exchange to offer this.
This tool could increase institutional participation. More large investors mean better liquidity and stability in crypto. It helps mid- and small-cap tokens too, where liquidity is thin.
As crypto matures, features like IOI bridge gaps to mainstream finance. They support growth in adoption and volume. Binance continues to add services for pros, strengthening its position.
The launch happened on December 11, 2025. This step shows ongoing efforts to professionalize digital assets.
